GETTING STARTED
Q – Do I have an email account?
A – If you are a registered student you are automatically assigned a CityTech email account.
Q – What is CityTech Student Email?
A –CityTech Student Email is a authentic email account created just for you. CityTech Student Email allows you to send text messages across the internet to a specific email address.
Q – What is an Email Address?
A –This is the address, which you would like people to contact you at. Your email address will be your User ID, followed by @campus.citytech.cuny.edu Example: John Smith --> Jsmith@campus.citytech.cuny.edu
Q – What is meant by Login?
A – When you login you are entering the email account name used (User ID or User Name) to gain access to your email account or computer system..
Q – What is a Login Name?
A – A login name is the account name used to access a computer system. Also called User ID or User name, it is a way people identify themselves to their online service or Internet access provider.
Q – What is my Login Name to my email account?
A – Your Login Name to your email account is your first initial and last name. If your name is John Smith your Login Name would be jsmith. The Login name for your Internet account: is everything before the @ sign.
Q –What if I forgot my Login Name and email address?
A – If you forgot your email address go to https://cis.citytech.cuny.edu/getmyemaillogin.aspx enter your Last name and last four digits of your social security number, then click "what is my email login name". Your Login Name and Email Address will be displayed.
Q – How do I access my email account?
A – You can access your email by clicking on the following link and logging in: http://campus.CityTech.cuny.edu using your UserID and Password.
Q – What is my User ID and Password?
A – Your User ID and Password is indicated in the letter you receive once you register for classes. Your User ID is your First Initial and Last Name (without a space) and your password is your Date of Birth following this format: MMDDYY.
Q – Do I have to change my password after my initial login?
A – Yes. It is important that you change your password (see Student Email Handout -> Link)

Q –What Web browsers are supported by CommuniGatePro (CommuniGatePro is the system used for Citytech Student Email) student email system?
A – The following are the Web browsers that are supported by CommuniGate Pro: o Internet Explorer 6up o Netscape Navigator 7.1 o Mozilla Firefox 0.9.1 o Opera 7.23 and up o Internet Explorer 5.1 (for Mac) o Netscape Navigator 7 (for Mac) o Safari 1.1.1
Q – What does CityTech do to protect my email from viruses?
A –All incoming and outgoing email is scanned by an anti-virus program (McAfee) so your documents can be protected.
Q – How much email storage space do I have?
A – You are allowed 50 MB
Q – Are there restrictions as to how I can use this email account?
A –Yes. Absolutely no spamming or Email harassment is permitted. This email is to be used strictly used for College-related purposes please refer to policies and procedures @ cis.citytech.cuny.edu for more information.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Q – Why can’t I see all of the messages in my Inbox?
A –You may be using a filter.
Q – When I use the back button on my browser it tells me that the page has expired, why does it say that?
A – You need to reload/refresh the page (for more information go to http://cis.citytech.cuny.edu/email.aspx --> locate the Email Hand-book link)
Q – What should I do if I can’t access my student email and get an error message when I enter the page?
A – Contact Student Helpdesk via email (Helpdesk@campus.citytech.cuny.edu), phone(718-260-4900), or visit them in room N124 near the cafeteria.
Q – Why can’t I receive certain mail?
A – Your mailbox may be full or because of certain filters and spam may prohibit you from receiving certain mail.
